DRY COAL BENEFICIATION PLANT

ARIA engineered and delivered a dry coal beneficiation plant for Palesa Mine in Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa, designed to process thermal coal at a capacity of 500 TPH. The plant was completely redesigned to optimise airflow dynamics, material flow, and separation efficiency within the dry beneficiation system.

Through advanced process engineering and airflow optimisation, the facility achieves stable fluidisation and efficient separation of coal from ash-bearing material without water. The installation significantly improves coal quality, plant throughput, and operational reliability while supporting environmentally responsible dry processing. The project demonstrates ARIA’s capability to design and implement large-scale dry coal beneficiation solutions for high-capacity mining operations.

DRY COAL BENEFICIATION PLANT

ARIA carried out a comprehensive retrofit of the existing dry coal beneficiation plant for Africoal SA at the Klipfontein facility, South Africa, aimed at significantly improving plant performance and separation efficiency. The upgrade focused on redesigning the plant’s airflow reticulation system and optimizing the fluidization mechanism that drives the dry beneficiation process. Through advanced airflow engineering and process optimization, ARIA enhanced the stability and distribution of the fluidized bed, enabling more effective separation of coal from ash-bearing material.

The retrofit improved beneficiation efficiency, plant throughput, and operational reliability while utilizing the existing infrastructure. By refining airflow dynamics and fluidization control, the project demonstrated how targeted engineering upgrades can substantially increase the performance of dry coal processing plants while maintaining cost-effective operations.

RAILWAY WAGON PAINT PLANT

Engineered and delivered a state-of-the-art railway wagon paint plant for Transnet Engineering at the Pretoria facility, South Africa. The plant was designed for large rolling stock and high-volume industrial coating operations. It incorporates advanced airflow engineering, optimized paint application zones, and controlled curing environments to ensure uniform coating quality across complete railway wagons.

The facility layout enables efficient wagon movement, safe operator access, and stable environmental conditions throughout the coating process. Built with high-efficiency ventilation and robust industrial systems, the plant improves coating consistency, productivity, and operational reliability while meeting strict industrial and environmental compliance standards required by Transnet Engineering.

STEEL MILL FUME EXTRACTION SYSTEM

ARIA engineered and installed a high-capacity fume extraction system for SA Steel Mills at the Vereeniging facility, South Africa, designed to ensure environmental compliance for four 25 TPH furnaces. The system captures high-temperature furnace fumes directly at source through a robust ducting network and specialised extraction hoods.

Captured gases are directed through a controlled cooling section before entering high-efficiency baghouse dust collectors, where fine particulate matter generated during furnace operations is effectively removed. The installation significantly reduces airborne emissions within the plant and the surrounding environment while improving workplace air quality and operational safety. The solution was engineered to handle high-temperature industrial fumes while maintaining reliable and continuous performance in a demanding steel manufacturing environment.

BILLET SHOT BLASTING PLANT

ARIA engineered and installed an automated wheel blasting machine for billet surface preparation at ArcelorMittal’s Newcastle facility, South Africa. The system was designed to efficiently remove scale, rust, and surface contaminants from steel billets produced during the rolling and casting process.

The installation incorporates high-performance blasting wheels, optimized material handling, and an integrated dust extraction system to ensure consistent surface cleaning and reliable continuous operation. By automating the blasting process, the solution improves surface quality, production efficiency, and operator safety while meeting the demanding operational standards of large-scale steel manufacturing.
